The Mustard Seed Youth Home
A lifeline for a forgotten child
The Mustard Seed Mission (MSM) started by missionary Mrs. Lillian Dickinson, has offered shelter and work-related training for homeless boys since 1960.
Providing a caring sanctuary for some 30 boys at a time ranging from age eight to 18, the boys call dormitories home under the watchful eyes of caregivers.
By the age of 17, the boys are taught independence and responsibility by living in pairs within ‘pods’; self-contained units with a kitchenette. Here, they learn to cook, do laundry and practice life skills preparing them for a world beyond Mustard Seed Youth Home.

At 18, it’s time to seek independence outside of the Home, with access to ongoing support channels. These outreach programs help them to navigate their own paths as able young men, finding accommodation and employment, and meeting new friends along the way.
